Home Remedies For Sneezing

Sneezing may be annoying, but it is actually a protective mechanism that helps expel allergens and irritants out of your body. Allergies, animal dander, smoke, mold, dust, wood dust, pollen and other such irritants are the most common causes of sneezing. Cold weather, changesin humidity and temperature, rain water, strong smells, food allergies, certain drugs and other such factors also can cause sneezing.

Sneezing is often accompanied by issues like lack of concentration, fatigue, runny nose, nasal irritation, and red eyes. Sneezing is not usually a serious problem but if it occurs persistently, it can be frustrating. There are many simple and easy home remedies for relief from sneezing.

Here are the top 10 home remedies for sneezing.

1. Peppermint Oil
If your sneezing is due to a stuffy nose, peppermint oil’s antibacterial properties can help.

Boil some water and add five drops of peppermint oil.
Cover you head with a towel and breathe in the steam coming from the boiling pot. Inhaling the steam will clear your nasal passages.
You can also inhale steam from boiling water mixed with a few drops of eucalyptus oil to get relief from sneezing induced by nasal irritation and colds.

2. Fennel Tea
Fennel has natural antibiotic and anti-viral properties that can fight off any upper respiratory infection, including sneezing.

Boil a cup of water, add two teaspoons of crushed fennel seeds and cover the pot. Soak the seeds for 10 to 15 minutes and then strain the liquid.
Drink two cups of this tea daily to reduce the frequency of sneezing.
When preparing fennel tea, never boil the water after adding the seeds to it. This will destroy the natural oils in the fennel.

3. Black Pepper
Something as simple as pepper can be the solution to sneezing and a runny nose.

Mix one-half tablespoon of pepper powder with lukewarm water. Drink it two to three times each day.
Gargling with warm water mixed with pepper also helps get rid of cold viruses and germs.
You can also eat soups and salads mixed with black pepper.

4. Chamomile Tea
A hot cup of chamomile tea is considered as one of the best home remedies for sneezing caused by allergies. It has excellent antihistamine properties that can provide instant relief.

Add one teaspoon of dried chamomile flowers to one cup of boiling water, continue boiling the tea for a few minutes. Add some honey to improve the flavor.
Drink the tea two times each day to stop your sneezing.
You can also use Echinacea and nettle tea and drink it two times daily.

5. Ginger
Ginger is one of the oldest and effective home remedies for the treatment of different viral and nasal problems including sneezing.

Consume 1 to 2 teaspoons of ginger extract twice a day until the sneezing stops.
Another option is to cut a small piece of ginger root into thin slices, put them in a cup of water and boil it for some time. Add a little honey for taste and drink the tea before going to bed. This will prevent sneezing at night.

6. Garlic
Garlic can easily fight off an upper respiratory infection due to its natural antibiotic and antiviral properties. It can be used internally or externally to get relief from excessive sneezing caused by a common cold infection.

Crush four to five garlic cloves to make a fine paste and then inhale its strong fragrance. This will help clear the nasal passages that cause sneezing and help you to breathe with ease.
It’s also helpful to include garlic in your diet. You can add it to your soups, salads and many other dishes.

DANGER ALERT

IOI CHRISTIAN MORNING MEAL

TOPIC: DANGER ALERT

TEXT: Revelation 22:19 KJV
And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

brethren our today's morning meal is a serious warning for ministers of God, Bible schoolers, prophets and prophetess, teachers and interpreters of the scripture and all of us who read Bible daily and living our life by it law,

Many people read Bible for many reason, some for their spiritual growth, to some for criticism, some to suit their purpose and self ambitions without following it as God lay it down.
Matthew 22:29 KJV
Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God.

The word of God is God himself John 1:14 KJV
And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

Reading the book of 2 Timothy 3:16 KJV
All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

Let us be carful of the way we interpret the Bible so that we won't be condemned of it by the Lord,
As you prophecy and preach be careful not to say what God is not sending you because of the damnation of hell, every prophecy that is not rooted in God will or that is not Biblical is not from God and is baseless, there is no how beautiful and sweet it may look.
Bible is our standard.

Don't take out from it and don't add to it.
Revelation 22:19 KJV
And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

Gay Relationships, Divorces Must Be Welcomed - Bishops

Pope Francis famously said ‘Who am I to judge?’ when asked in 2013 about rumors that a top priestly adviser had a gay lover.

However, no specific decision concerning these issues was announced. The bishops said homosexuals had ‘gifts and qualities’ to offer and asked if the church was ready to provide them a place ‘accepting and valuing their sexual orientation without compromising Catholic doctrine on the family and matrimony.’

The bishops also expressed their readiness to change their minds on civil weddings and even cohabitation, with the aim of helping the couple commit eventually to a church wedding. Besides, they said that a couples’ decision on the use of contraception should be respected.

The bishops also expressed their readiness to change their minds on civil weddings and even cohabitation

The summit has been described as a ‘step in the right direction’ by activists and boasts all the hallmarks of the notably progressive attitudes the Catholic Church has adopted since the ascension of Pope Francis last year.

Pastor Anselm Reveals: Many Pastors are Practising Occultism

When a pastor who is an insider begin to open up like this, then we the ordinary members should be worried. The General Overseer of Revival Assembly Church, Apostle Anselm Madubuko in a new chat with Yes Magazine publisher says, it’s true that a lot of pastors practise occultism in the church using God to cover up their acts.

The pastor who married a beautiful chick after the death of his wife, made shocking revelations:
"It is painful for me to see what so many pastors are doing. So many of them are practising occultism in the church. They do all this for the love of money, power, for fame and they have compromised their faith. They are acting films on the pulpit, forging miracles and faking testimonies and unfortunately, people are falling victims.
"They have their support from their relatives; they connive with these people to hear what they shouldn’t hear. They give different contracts forgetting that we have also seen successful witches and wizards in Nigeria...

"They talk about Jonathan’s success, claiming they are responsible for it. These people may know your problems, but they don’t have the solutions, because they are not from God.

"They use and take advantage of your problems to siphon you and that is the most painful aspect. But for all the true servants of God who are genuinely called by God, I pray that God would keep them and give them the power to establish more churches, because we don’t have enough churches yet. We are over 150 million people. So, we need more churches to cater for the souls that are perishing."

YOU NEED A HELPER

IOI CHRISTIAN MORNING MEAL

TOPIC: YOU NEED A HELPER

TEXT: Genesis 1:31 KJV
And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.

Our morning today focus on turning imperfection to perfection, and the only one that can do that in our life is God,

In the book of Genesis all that God created is good and OK until when we got to chapter 2.
Genesis 2:18 KJV
And the Lord God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.

The only observation of God is that something is not good about Adam. And that is lack of HELP MEET.

Jesus is simply saying a life without a helper is totally not good at all. So God has to do whatever it take him to get Adam that which he lack.

Beloved, there are many things we lack too, there are many things causing imperfection in our life and destiny, and God is seen it today, that thing is no more hiding to the sight of God again,
But God is saying am ready to make you sleep and do my work of perfection on you, my question this morning is that will you allow God to work on you,
He wanted to make friend out if you, he wanted to create a good life for you, God want to remove you loneliness life and surrounded you with helper
Isaiah 64:8 KJV
But now, O Lord , thou art our father; we are the clay, and thou our potter; and we all are the work of thy hand.

LET US PRAY
LORD JESUS, REMOVE ALL IMPERFECTION AND SEND HELPER TO US TODAY. AMEN

Spiritual pills for the sick

Since the time in the Garden of Eden when Adam and Eve disobeyed God there has been sickness on earth. Sometimes we suffer from a common cold virus or maybe we are sick with a more serious disease. Regardless of the type of sickness; there are many Bible verses for the sick. Here are just 20 comforting scriptures that I hope brighten your day or the day of a loved one who is sick.

God Promised and Healed Before; He can do it Again

Old Testament

Deuteronomy 7:15 And the Lord will take away from you all sickness, and none of the evil diseases of Egypt, which you knew, will he inflict on you, but he will lay them on all who hate you.

Exodus 23:25 You shall serve the Lord your God, and he will bless your bread and your water, and I will take sickness away from among you.

Psalms 34:19 Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all.

Psalms 105:37 (KJV) He brought them forth also with silver and gold: and there was not one feeble person among their tribes.

Psalms 107:20 He sent out his word and healed them, and delivered them from their destruction.

Jeremiah 30:17 For I will restore health to you, and your wounds I will heal, declares the Lord, because they have called you an outcast:‘It is Zion, for whom no one cares!’

New Testament

Matthew 12:15 Jesus, aware of this, withdrew from there. And many followed him, and he healed them all

Matthew 14:14 When he went ashore he saw a great crowd, and he had compassion on them and healed their sick.

Acts 10:37-38 That word, I say, ye know, which was published throughout all Judaea, and began from Galilee, after the baptism which John preached; 38How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.

God is the One who Heals

We must remember that when we pray for the sick we are offering intercessory prayer to God. However, God is still the Master Healer and the Great Physician and He will or will not heal those whom He will or will not heal.

Sometimes He Heals the Sick through the Gifts and Prayers of Others

Matthew 10:1 And when he had called unto him his twelve disciples, he gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease.

Mark 16:15 And when he had called unto him his twelve disciples, he gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease.

Luke 9:1 Then he called his twelve disciples together, and gave them power and authority over all devils, and to cure diseases.

Acts 14:3 Long time therefore abode they speaking boldly in the Lord, which gave testimony unto the word of his grace, and granted signs and wonders to be done by their hands.

Acts 28:8 And it came to pass, that the father of Publius lay sick of a fever and of a bloody flux: to whom Paul entered in, and prayed, and laid his hands on him, and healed him.

Hebrews 4:16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

James 5:15-16 And the prayer of faith will save the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. 16 Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.

YOU HAVE AUTHORITY

IOI CHRISTIAN MORNING MEAL

TOPIC: YOU HAVE AUTHORITY

Text: Matthew 10:1 KJV
And when he had called unto him his twelve disciples, he gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease.

brethren it is a pity today how demons play around with our life because we are not spiritually fervent and because we don't know our right as a child of the most high,
If you examine this vers well Jesus called his disciples to himself and gave them power, if you believe that you are one of Jesus through disciples you too have this power. Yes you too have it.
But there is something we need to recognize about casting out demons and healing the sick or performing a last long and Godly miracle. That is to do it in the only name of Jesus.

Mark 16:17-18 KJV
And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; [18] They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

You can only do this only by the name if Jesus, whatever miracle outside the name of Jesus is no more Godly and will backfire.
Philippians 2:9-11 KJV
Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: [10] That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; [11] And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Beloved, what are you still doing now. This is another week get up and claim all the blessing and cast out all demons ahead of you this new week in Jesus name. You have authority

Breaking Demonic strongholds

Sickness and emotional pain are rooted in spiritual problems.

A person coming for deliverance is convicted of sin and truly wants to be delivered out of his bondage. Our first goal is to help him understand that he doesn't need to go through a prayer line to receive deliverance.

Jesus is true to His Word, and anyone who seeks Him in a right spirit with the right "tools" will experience His freeing power. One tool we teach is actually a series of action steps for getting free: repent, renounce and break.

Repent. "Repent" literally means being "re-penitent" or "again humble." One who is penitent expresses humble or regretful pain or sorrow for sins or offenses. To repent means to come back to that place of humility and sorrow over sin.

We are coming back to the one who grants forgiveness. We are not trying something new or differentwe are reaffirming our need for the Savior, deliverer and redeemer, Jesus.

If there is no repentance, then we continue to walk in darkness, deceived by the enemy. And if we continue to be deceived, we remain in bondage.

Renounce. To "renounce" means to "give up, refuse, or resign by formal declaration." Whereas repenting is directed toward God, renouncing is directed toward the enemy.

We are countermanding any words that contradict God's Word. We are making a formal declaration that we will no longer align ourselves with things that oppose God. We are canceling any and all agreements with the enemy.

God has given us authority in Jesus' name to cancel any spiritually binding contract we may have made with the devil through our words. Many believers repent of their sins before God, only to find themselves in a losing tug-of-war with the enemy, repeating their failures.

We must shut the door on the devil, refusing by formal declaration to walk in the ways of the past. Renouncing is the means by which we cut off any legal right for Satan to bind or torment us. This is the way we resist him.

If our words have been contrary to God's, then we have aligned ourselves with the works of darkness. To be free from them, we must counter those words with God's Word, thus renouncing the hidden works of shame. "But we have renounced the hidden things of shame, not walking in craftiness nor handling the word of God deceitfully, but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man's conscience in the sight of God" (2 Cor. 4:2).

Break. After we repent, we have the right to cancel or renounce any legal hold the enemy had over us. The yoke of bondage can be broken off our lives. God loves to see us come to the place where yokes are broken
and it thoroughly frustrates the enemy!

It is quite common to use anointing oil when praying for someone's deliverance. There is nothing supernatural about the oil. It is, however, representative of someone who is very supernatural. That one is Jesus, the Messiah, the anointed one (see Is. 61:1).

The oil serves as a point of reference to build faith. We are declaring that repentance has taken place, the enemy has been renounced, and now, with the authority of Jesus' name and because of the power of His death and resurrection, the yoke of bondage is broken. "The yoke will be destroyed because of the anointing oil" (Is. 10:27).

At this point of breaking, a struggle begins and ends. It is the primary place of confrontation with the enemy, and now the light of Jesus is shining where darkness once ruled. The enemy has been found out and cast out.

It is a great time of freedom and joy. I have seen multiplied thousands of people set free by this simple application of God's Word.

Our Authority in Christ

However, it is crucially important for believers going into battle to be aware of their authority in Christ. Deliverance is not a benign activity. We are dealing with disobedient spirits. These demons will use any opportunity to bluff, intimidate, lie or oppose.

I have very little faith in my own ability. But I know Jesus, and I am convinced that when He said H e said He was giving us authority, He was telling the truth. "'And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues'" (Mark 16:17).

Jesus commended the centurion who believed that if Jesus gave the word, his servant would be healed. This centurion understood authority and knew the power of the one giving the healing command.

We must also understand and believe in this authority. It is not a haughty authority but a humble, honest response to who Jesus is and what He has done.

In the natural realm, the reason we stop our car when the lights on a police car are flashing behind us is not because of who's inside but because of what he represents.

The officer in that car may be on the job for the first day. He might be slight of build. He might not be feeling well. Yet, if he flashes his lights, we stop.

Why? He represents the law. He is coming in the name of the law. If we resist, we are resisting to our own calamity. The entire judicial system will back up the police officer.

In the spiritual realm, our authority is derived not from our own strength but from the one who granted it to us. Our authority is no less because we're new at it or because we're young or frail or not very wise. Spiritual authority depends not upon us but upon Him

Living to Seek the Good Favor of God

IOI CHRISTIAN MORNING MEAL

TOPIC: Living to Seek the Good Favor of God

Romans 15:1-13 –

If you want Gods favour in your life consider this point.

(1) SERVICE.
If you want to seek the good favor of God, from your position of strength, when you step in to help another who is not as strong as you, you ought to see yourself as seeking the good favor of God. “Your position of strength is not for status, rather for service. Look at those around you and ask yourself the question, what can I do to help?”

(2) READY TO DO WHAT IT TAKES. Seeking the good favor of God will often times take you beyond your comfort zone. The Bible principle says, ask, seek and knock, you have to be ready to "do", "act" and "be"

(3) BE SPIRITUALLY GUIDED In all of our outward effort and with all of our physical energy to seek the good favor of God, all is vain unless it is undergirded by a spiritual desire to seek the good favor of God.

TERRIBLE: Prophet made Husband Kill his own Wife in Lagos

I Butchered My Wife As Advised By A Prophet, Ismail Yakubu Confesses To Police in Lagos
If Mrs. Silifat Yakubu had known that her husband and father of her three sons would callously butcher her to death, she would have probably had a second thought about their marriage.

Silifat was allegedly killed by her husband, Ismail Yakubu, at Igbele, near Araromi Ale Olorunda area along the Badagry Expressway in Lagos.

Although details surrounding the death of Iya Lugo, as Silifat was popularly called, are still sketchy, it was however gathered that the mutilated body of the deceased was found in a small river located at the community’s entrance, where she was supposedly dumped after she was murdered.

According to an eyewitness, some of the victim’s body parts, such as her eyes, breasts and uterus,
were missing when her corpse was found, suggesting she had been murdered for ritual.
A neighbour, Iya Korede said: “Most of the people in the area do not know her husband because he goes early to work and comes back late. But his wife is a very hard working woman. She built the house they live in. As if that was not enough, she bought a commercial bus for him. What else does he want? If he was tired of the marriage, he should have driven her away instead of killing her...

Narrating what he saw, one Ambimbola Sule, a commercial motorcyclist in the area, said: “Residents in the community woke up on Saturday morning to find the lifeless body of a woman inside the river that leads into Igbele.

Initially, people could not identify the person because her face had several cuts. She was wearing a lace gown, with no under wears.”

It was also learnt that since the incident involved the loss of life, community leaders had to involve the police from Area K Command, who began investigation into the incident.

While investigating the case, the police arrested several persons, many of whom had since been released.

According to reports, the deceased’s husband, who was arrested on Sunday, confessed to killing his wife on Friday night because a prophet told him she was using his star.

He purportedly dumped the corpse in the river at night, after his attempts to take her far away failed because his bus developed fault.

The neighbour, Iya Korede, who lives near the victim’s shop, noted that Silifat was jovial, hardworking and troubled no one.

She also described the deceased as a trader who sold household utensils in her container shop, located a few blocks from hers.

She added: “The world is truly a wicked place. How can a man kill his own wife? The same woman who bore him three male children, for goodness sake? It is only God that will save us.”

A member of the Landlord Association said: “We do not know what this community has become. Just as we are still lamenting the gruesome murder of this woman, armed robbers struck last night.

“At present, residents are living in fear. Once it is 7p.m., you will not find anyone outside. And this is affecting our business.

“Lagos State government and relevant authorities should please come to our aid before things get out of hand.”

While confirming the reports, Police PRO, DSP Kenneth Nwosu, stated that the suspect was currently in police custody and had made confessional statements that he actually committed the crime.

Redeem Pastor Escapes From Boko Haram After 10 Months In Captivity

A pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God who was kidnapped 10 months ago escaped from Boko Haram militants in Borno on Tuesday.

Logo of the RCCG
Pastor Rotimi Obajimi, who served as a pastor in the rural area of Borno/Yobe province, was on his to Maiduguri on January 6th this year when Boko Haram militants abducted him.

According to a pastor in Redeem church in Maiduguri told SaharaReporters that they were surprised to see Mr. Obajimi emerge from nowhere, he said, “we were so amazed to see him because we have been praying earnestly for long time trusting Jesus that he would surely come back but lo and behold he was brought to our headquarters in Maiduguri by the military.”

The pastor told his colleagues that was taken to Sambisa Forest where he was tied down for months, he was later moved to an unknown destination and thereafter brought back to Sambisa forest again. He reportedly told his colleagues that his escape was made possible by a heavy downpour that led to massive floods which sacked everyone in the camps.
Due to the rains, armed men left him and others so he was able to escape and for days he wandered in the forest before he could arrive to a village where the military picked him up after narrating his experiences to them, they later brought him to Maiduguri.

He was later driven to Maimallari Hospital by military escorts, who had his face covered.

Another pastor revealed that the senior military official at 7 Division has advised them to relocate the pastor to Redemption Camp in Lagos for his safety, in fact, adequate provision has been made to fly him out of Maiduguri according to the pastor.

A military source at 7 Division confirmed the escape of Pastor Obajimi claiming that he has been fully debriefed by the military.

PRINCIPLE FOR FINDING A GODLY WIFE OR HUSBAND...continue from yesterday

IOI CHRISTIAN MORNING MEAL

TOPIC: PRINCIPLE FOR FINDING A GODLY WIFE OR HUSBAND...continue from yesterday

Don't be paranoid about members of the opposite sex. In conservative Christian circles there is almost an assumption that you only talk to members of the opposite sex that you are interested in marrying! That is so destructive! Build many ordinary good friendships and confuse your church thoroughly! It takes the pressure off any emerging relationships and also gives you a better understanding of women/men as the case may be.

Get good Christian counseling if you have had traumatic experiences that may be hindering your ability to relate to members of the opposite sex. I can recommend Theophostic Counseling and there is an article on it elsewhere in the magazine.

If you really like someone and they are a good Christian then go for it! I spent a lot of time thinking "so and so is too good for me" and holding back and thus losing out. Being strong and courageous has many advantages and seems to get God's blessing.

Many good Christian marriages have developed when a friend introduces two people together and they click. While some friends playing Cupid with your life can be a pain if you have a few really good friends that you trust ask them to keep a lookout for you and to pray for the right person to come along.

Ask God's blessing on your efforts and develop the ability to listen to Him. God has a long history of putting some first class romances together. Let Him order your days and they will be pleasant. He really does care!

Tragic End Groom Kills Self and New Bride Hours After Wedding

A wedding ceremony that started happily ended in a double tragedy after a groom shot his new bride and himself dead.

A wedding in Indiana ended tragically after the groom, Dr. George 'Scott' Samson, an anesthesiologist shot dead his wife, early on Sunday morning, just a few hours after they exchanged marriage vows.

The incident which happened after the last guest left their wedding party was allegedly an "alcohol fueled argument" over a pre-nuptial agreement.

Samson, 54, is said to have told his new wife, Kelly Ecker, 50, that she would 'never get her hands on his money' during the wedding reception at the Ohio Building in Terre Haute on Saturday evening.

According to Daily Mail, witnesses said the argument became increasingly bitter when the wedding after-party moved to Samson and Ecker's mansion, with guests deciding to leave at 1.17am on Sunday morning as the fighting escalated.

Three minutes after the final guest departed, Ecker, who is a nurse at the same hospital as Samson, made the first of three terrified 911 calls claiming her husband was going to kill her.

The first two frantic calls to the dispatcher ended abruptly, but moments later Ecker phoned back, her trembling voice pleading for help, before a volley of gunshots rang out and the phone line cut.

Less than half-an-hour later, officers who who responded to the couple's Terre Haute home discovered the body of Ecker, fatally shot in the head and neck and in the basement, the body of Samson, who had taken his own life with a 45-caliber semi automatic pistol.

According to Advance Indiana, the reception had been changed from the newlywed's home to the Ohio Building at the last minute and the marquee tent set up in their garden still hauntingly sits outside their home.

Court sentences Osun politician to life imprisonment for raping pregnant woman

An Osun State High Court sitting in Ilesa has sentenced a politician in Osun State to life imprisonment for raping a pregnant woman.
Obafemi Kolawole, a political associate to one Ganiyu Oladiran, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ilesa, was on September 23 convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment with whipping.
A.B Abdulkareem, the trial judge, while finding Mr. Kolawole guilty noted that although the corroboration of a second prosecution witness was limited to assault, it does not corroborate penetration which is the vital ingredient necessary for rape.
However, the medical report tendered by one Dr. Isawumi corroborated the needed penetration necessary to convict the accused.
The judge thereafter held that Rachel Ojimi, the prosecution counsel and a Chief State Counsel at the Ministry of Justice, had been able to prove its case beyond reasonable doubt.
He, however, struck out the charge of indecent assault since it carries a lesser punishment.
According to the prosecution, Mr. Kolawole, on 15th September, 2007, raped a pregnant lady (names withheld to avoid stigmatization), a member of the then Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN (now All Progressives Congress, APC) who was pregnant at the time of the incident.
The event occurred after the 2007 gubernatorial election in Osun State.
The prosecution charged Mr. Kolawole before the State High Court on a two-count charge of rape and indecent assault contrary to Sections 358 and 360 of the Criminal Code cap 34, Vol II, Laws of Osun.
Four prosecution witnesses were called namely: the pregnant lady, Lawal Sikiru, Dr. A.I Isawumi, and Olatunji Arojo, a police Sergeant and the Investigating Police Officer; while Mr. Kolawole testified in his defence, along with Mr. Oladiran, Adediran Kehinde, Adewusi Olowolodu and Olayinka Alege.
At the trial, the lady said that on September 15, 2007, the convict and his cohorts, who are not Police Officers came to arrest her at her house at about 7:30p.m. for an unknown offence. On sighting them and knowing their antecedents in the vicinity, she took to her heels. The convict pursued, caught up with her, and beat her up.
Having overpowered her, the lady said the convict stripped her naked and raped her, and that when her cry for help became unbearable, he covered her mouth.
According to her, her neighbours in the compound had gone to the Mosque because it was the period of the Moslem fast. Thereafter she was bundled into a waiting jeep to join two other men whom she found in the same predicament as her.
The lady further testified that they were driven to Mr. Oladiran’s house and tied to a tree where the trio were mercilessly flogged; the convict later untied her and plucked out her pubic hair, put it in her mouth and swallowed with dry gin. Thereafter, he went ahead to insert a tin opener into her vagina and poured dry gin all over her body. Then he raped her again.
The second prosecution witness, Mr. Sikiru, testified that on the fateful day, he was one of the two naked men in the waiting jeep; the other was one Gbadamosi Lasun.
He stated further that he had earlier received his own share of the beatings before being bundled naked into the jeep belonging to Mr. Oladiran when the lady was brought in naked, and that the trio were driven to Mr. Oladiran’s house and tied to a tree where they were beaten and the contents of dry gin was poured all over their body.
According to him, the lady was untied by the convict who plucked out her pubic hair, inserted a tin opener into her vagina, before going ahead to pour the dry gin into her (vagina) and then sought the consent of the Chief (Mr. Oladiran) to have another round of sexual intercourse with her.
The Chief consented and she was taken to the boot of the jeep from where they heard her shouting for help.
The medical examination conducted on the lady three days upon presentation after the incident at LAUTECH by Dr. Isawumi revealed that there was penetration and that the swap taken from the defendant was full of alcohol.
It was also discovered medically, that as at the time of the incident the lady was pregnant.
Mr. Arojo, the IPO, on his own part, testified that the lady and others were brought to the State Police Command Monitoring Unit at Okefia by Mr. Oladiran who claimed that the lady, and the others, whom he got arrested were the ones who assaulted him after the April 2007 Gubernatorial Election in the State.
According to him, while receiving the statements of all concerned, and conducting investigation into the matter, it was discovered that Mr. Oladiran’s captives, that is, the lady and the others, were indeed the victims, and the supposed complainants and cohorts were the accused persons and were consequently charged to court.
Mr. Kolawole (the convict) in his own defence, denied the allegations made against him. He admitted going to the lady’s house on the fateful day and arresting her, but denied stripping her naked; rather, he said he handed her over to his colleagues, who drove her and other captives to Chief’s house, where they were later handed over to the police. His other witnesses also admitted that the lady and others were driven to the Chief’s house.
Mr. Oladiran, while testifying for the defence, claimed his co-accused at the Magistrate Court who arrested the defendant and the others were his sympathizers.

Tope Alabi Gospel Singer Denies Ever Sleeping With Late Prophet Ajanaku

Gospel singer, Tope Alabi has decided to break her long silence over allegations of sleeping with her late spiritual father, Prophet Elijah Ajanaku.

For the first time since the death of her spiritual father, late Prophet Elijah Iretiola Ajanaku, Yoruba gospel singer, Tope Alabi, has opened up on the controversies that surrounded her leaving the controversial man of God's church, insisting that insinuations that she was sleeping with the man were all lies aimed at tarnishing her image.

Tope who was very close to the late Prophet and sang his praises in most of her tracks, fell out with the man she once termed as the most important person in her life and speculations became rife that they actually had something intimate going on between them.

Apart from the sex scandal that was making the rounds, there were also rumours of an audio CD in circulation purporting that Tope had confessed to Prophet Ajanaku that she was a mermaid but in an interview she granted a radio station in Lagos, Tope denied ever being the one behind the alleged confessions.

Hear her:

«There was nothing sexual between Ajanaku and I. I was at his church for ministration and I used to contribute my tithe at his church. Before news made the rounds that he was into traditional things, I had parted ways with him 3 years before then. God revealed to me that he’s that kind of person, hence my decision.

On the mermaid confession allegation, Tope Alabi had this to say:

«I was on a foreign musical tour when someone called and said I had released a new audio, where I confessed to being a mermaid.

«I didn’t believe it because I felt it was just one of those media stunts. So, I just waved the whole thing aside. It was when I got home and another pastor called me and said he just got the tape and that I was the one. I was dumbfounded.

«So, I asked him to please play it for me. To my greatest surprise, I actually listened to it over the phone and I just sat there. The voice was exactly my voice. But I just can’t explain how the person did it. The only confession I have ever done and will continue to do is the gospel of Christ.

APC Commends Pastor Adeboye, RCCG Over Stance On Offensive Audio CD

Pastor Adeboye
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has commended the General Overseer (GO) of the Redeem Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, for dissociating himself and the church from the offensive and divisive audio CD that is being circulated by certain political Pastors.

In a statement issued in Lagos on Monday by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the party said by his action, the GO has again exhibited his characteristic exceptional leadership and shown what religion should be about, which is love, rather than hate and incendiary statements.

It particularly expressed satisfaction that the GO specifically asked the RCCG Pastors to ignore the contents of the audio CD, especially all the references to political parties, including the APC.

''The GO's statement, in his response to the APC which had written to protest the divisive and corrosive statements contained in the audio CD, which has been smuggled into some RCCG parishes, made it clear that the RCCG is neutral and apolitical, and that it prays for all irrespective of political persuasion or creed.

''We in the APC are delighted at the GO's prompt action and statement that the RCCG did not endorse divisive comments in any form or shape, that it has sons and daughters in all political parties, and that the allegations contained in the audio CD are wickedly false, unsubstantiated, ill-conceived and mischievous.

''Equally satisfying is the GO's directive asking everyone in possession of the audio CDs to return them, and the directive to the Church's Pastors to communicate such to their respective congregations immediately,'' APC said.

On the obviously-sponsored audio CD, produced by one Pastor Bosun Emmanuel, the party wondered why a man of God will engage in outright lies to propagate hatred, incite Christians against Muslims so brazenly, as if the adherents of both religions are not children of the same God, and then use the platform of the church to campaign for the PDP while seeking to destroy the APC.

''In a country where the citizenry, whether Christians or Muslims, have been shortchanged by greedy, selfish and clueless political leadership, a Pastor went on record as saying President Goodluck Jonathan has performed 100%, while at the same time demonizing and denigrating the APC as an 'Islamic Party' without a scintilla of proof. Much as he struggled to couch his inflammatory and discordant message in flowery lies, it is clear that he was sponsored to inseminate lies to shore up the dwindling fortunes of the ruling party.

''Where in the world has an Islamic Party been led by a Christian? Where in the world has the membership of an Islamic Party been populated by Christians and Muslims? Why would a Pastor whose primary purpose is to preach the Gospel (good news) now make himself available, for whatever reason, as a tool to disseminate lies and bad news?

''Had this Pastor any sense of history, he would have realized how the propagation of hatred, as he is currently doing, led to the killing of over 800,000 Tutsi and moderate Hutu in Rwanda in 1994. This Pastor made it seem as if the terrorists called Boko Haram are fighting the cause of Nigerian Muslims, when he knows deep down that this evil group has not spared Muslims either.

''We have said it repeatedly: Boko Haram is a clear and present danger to Christians as it is to Muslims. Boko Haram is as dangerous to the rich as it is to the poor, it is as dangerous to the North as it is to the South. Simply put, Boko Haram is an enemy of Nigeria and all Nigerians, irrespective of their religion or ethnicity, must unite to defeat the terrorists,'' it said.

APC appealed to Nigerians of all creed and ethnicity to repudiate politicians or politicians in religious garb who may be seeking to divide them on primordial basis, especially as the general elections are fast approaching.

PRINCIPLE FOR FINDING A GODLY WIFE OR HUSBAND....continue from yesterday point

IOI CHRISTIAN MORNING MEAL

TOPIC: PRINCIPLE FOR FINDING A GODLY WIFE OR HUSBAND....continue from yesterday point

Marry someone you can pray with. Couples that pray together stay together and that's a proven fact. The Christian marriages that fail have one partner that avoids having daily devotionals together. Prayer really builds deep intimacy into a marriage.

Learn to recognize predators. There are quite a number of people who hang around churches to pick up a "Christian partner" and who can fake being a Christian with considerable skill. They generally have no intention of being godly and little intention of marriage. They are generally after unprotected sex with someone innocent and free of disease. Sorry to be that blunt but you need to know the truth. Predators are often betrayed by their lack of true feeling for Christian things and their lack of insight into Scripture. Greed, not tithing, and minor ethical breaches are other good clues. Listen to God's promptings and your intuition. The Holy Spirit will scream "No" at you pretty early on. When God says "No" stop right then and there!

Move steadily and wisely towards commitment and put aside undue suspicion, hostility and distrust of the opposite gender. As a rough rule of thumb people end up living up to your projections of their behavior. If you distrust people and are sure they will not stay with you but are "just using you" then they will flee! No-one will stay in a relationship with a person who distrusts them. However if you treat your partner well and trust , love, and enjoy them and delight in who they are and expect good things of them then they will enjoy your love so much that they will not think of doing anything else except marrying you! Positive people tend to get positive results and negative people tend to get negative results - so deal with your fears.

STEPS IN OVERCOMING MASTURBATION

STEPS IN OVERCOMING MASTURBATION
Be assured that you can be cured of your difficulty. Many have been, through the power of Jesus Christ, and you can be also if you allow Jesus to control your life as He so desires.

Your inner determination is the first step. That is where we begin. You must decide that you will end this practice, and when you make that decision, the problem will be greatly reduced at once. You must contemplate how revolted Jesus is when He watches you sweating and moaning like that. You must imagine how disgusted He is when He has to sort through your spilled seed, looking for the pre-born lives you have condemned to hell. And you must realize that masturbation is a gateway sin to sodomy. Only nancyboys enjoy touching a tallywhacker.

But it must be more than a hope or a wish, more than knowing that it is what God wants. It must be actually a DECISION. If you truly make up your mind that you will be HEALED of this repulsive, unhealthy habit, then Jesus will give you the strength to resist any tendencies which you may have and any temptations which may come to you.

After you have made this decision and prayed as hard as you can for Christ to stay your hands, you must observe the following specific guidelines:

1. Never touch the intimate parts of your body including during normal toilet processes.

2. Avoid being alone as much as possible. Find good company and stay in this good company.

3. If you are associated with other persons having this same problem, YOU MUST NOT BREAK OFF THEIR FRIENDSHIP. By associating with other people having the same weakness, the two of you can become stronger as a team. Don't suppose that two of you will quit separately, you never will. You must stick together with people who share your depravity. Just to be in their presence will keep your problem foremost in your mind. The problem must be taken seriously for it to be wiped out. Your mind must be focused on other and more wholesome things. Read the Bible!

4. When you bathe, do not admire yourself in a mirror. Do not flex your muscles. Do not imagine yourself as attractive or sexy. Never stay in the bath more than five or six minutes just long enough to bathe and dry and dress AND THEN GET OUT OF THE BATHROOM into a room where you will have some member of your family present.

5. When in bed, if that is where you have your problem for the most part, dress yourself for the night so tightly and securely that you cannot easily touch your tallywhacker, and so that it would be difficult and time consuming for you to remove those bindings. By the time you started to remove protective clothing you would have sufficiently controlled your thinking that the temptation would leave you. Spend more time praying!! Don't think about masturbation!!

6. If the temptation seems overpowering while you are in bed, GET OUT OF BED AND GO INTO THE KITCHEN AND FIX YOURSELF A SNACK, even if it is in the middle of the night, and even if you are not hungry, and despite your fears of gaining weight. The purpose behind this suggestion is that you GET YOUR MIND ON SOMETHING ELSE. EAT SOMETHING SWEET! Then contemplate the depravity of masturbation.

7. Never read pornographic material. Avoid the Song of Solomon! Never read about your problem. Keep it out of mind. Remember -- "First a thought, then an act." DO NOT focus on how masturbation makes you feel.

The thought pattern must be changed. You must not allow this problem to remain in your mind. When you accomplish that, you soon will be free of the act. Ask Jesus to occupy your mind.

8. Put wholesome thoughts into your mind at all times. Read good books -- Church books -- Scriptures -- Sermons of your Pastors. Make a daily habit of reading at least one chapter of Scripture. Try and memorize it!

9. Pray. But when you pray, don't pray about this problem, for that will tend to keep [it] in your mind more than ever. Pray for faith, pray for understanding of the Scriptures, pray for your Pastors, your friends, your families, BUT KEEP THE PROBLEM OUT OF YOUR MIND BY NOT MENTIONING IT EVER
NOT IN CONVERSATION WITH OTHERS, NOT IN YOUR PRAYERS. KEEP IT _OUT_ of your mind! The attitude of a person toward his problem has an affect on how easy it is to overcome. It is essential that a firm commitment be made to control the habit. As a person understands his reasons for the behavior, and is sensitive to the conditions or situations that may trigger a desire for the act, he develops the power to control it. Don't think about touching your tallywhacker!! DO NOT imagine how good it feels, or imagine that some slut is servicing it for you!! Think about Christ's temporary suffering on the cross at Calvary!!

As one meets with his True Christian Pastor™, a program for overcoming masturbation can be implemented using some of these suggestions. Remember it is essential that a regular report program be agreed on, so progress can be recognized and failures understood and eliminated.

Suggestions:

1. Pray daily, ask for Jesus to take your mind off these unnatural filthy thoughts, and beg Him for that which will strengthen you against temptation. Pray fervently and out loud when the temptations are the strongest. As loud as possible!!

2. Follow a program of vigorous daily exercise. The exercises reduce emotional tension and depression and are absolutely basic to the solution of this problem. Double your physical activity when you feel stress increasing. Don't think about masturbating while you exercise and get sweaty!

3. When the temptation to masturbate is strong, yell STOP to those thoughts as loudly as you can in your mind and then recite a prechosen Scripture or sing an inspirational hymn. Do this as loudly as possible, no matter where you are or who is around!! It is important to turn your thoughts away from the shameful, selfish need to indulge yourself in "that" feeling.

4. Set goals of not masturbating, begin with a day, then a week, month, year and finally commit to never doing it again. Until you commit yourself to never again you will always be open to temptation. Don't think about how it feels!!

5. Change in behavior and attitude is most easily achieved through a changed self-image. Spend time every day imagining yourself strong and in control, easily overcoming tempting situations. Change your hairstyle so you find yourself less attractive.

6. Begin to work daily on a self-improvement program. Relate this plan to improving your Church, to improving your relationships with your family, God and others. Strive to enhance your strengths and talents. Find ways of Tithing more to Jesus.

7. Be outgoing and friendly. Force yourself to be with others and learn to enjoy working and talking to them. Use principles of developing friendships found in the Holy Bible. Imagine yourself as an Apostle of Jesus. Would Peter masturbate all the time?

8. Be aware of situations that depress you or that cause you to feel lonely, bored, frustrated or discouraged. These emotional states can trigger the desire to masturbate as a way of escape. Plan in advance to counter these low periods through various activities, such as reading a book, visiting a masculine young friend, doing something athletic, walking in the park at night, etc.

9. Make a pocket calendar for a month on a small card. Carry it with you, and show it to your Pastor, or your room mate. If you have a lapse of self control, color the day black. Your goal will be to have no black days. The calendar becomes a strong visual reminder of self control and should be looked at when you are tempted to add another black day. Keep your calendar up until you have at least three clear months.

10. A careful study will indicate you have had the problem at certain times and under certain conditions. Try and recall, in detail, what your particular times and conditions were. Now that you understand how it happens, plan to break the pattern through counter activities. Eat donuts! Don't think about masturbating!

11. In the field of psychotherapy there is a very effective technique called aversion therapy. When we associate or think of something very distasteful with something which has been pleasurable, but undesirable, the distasteful thought and feeling will begin to cancel out that which was pleasurable. If you associate something very distasteful with your loss of self-control it will help you to stop the act. For example, if you are tempted to masturbate, think of having to bathe in a tub of worms, and eat several of them as you do the act. Or imagine yourself as a homosexual prostitute, being used as a sex toy by countless sweaty men for their own pleasures.

12. During your toileting and shower activities leave the bathroom door or shower curtain partly open, to discourage being alone in total privacy. Take ice cold brief showers. Don't forget to shout loudly if you think about masturbating.

13. Arise immediately in the mornings. Do not lie in bed awake, no matter what time of day it is. Get up and pray! Also, do several hours of exercises. Start each day with enthusiastic activities!! Tell everyone that "I'm NOT going to masturbate today!!"

14. Keep your bladder empty. Refrain from drinking large amounts of fluids before retiring.

15. Reduce the amount of spices and condiments in your food. Eat as lightly as possible at night.

16. Wear pajamas that are difficult to open, tight and binding. Silk is an excellent choice of material.

17. Avoid people, situations, pictures or reading materials that might create sexual excitement. Do not think about the feelings you experience from masturbation.

18. It is sometimes helpful to have a physical object to use in overcoming this problem. A tube of hand cream, firmly rubbed into your hands to keep them soft, even in bed at night, has proven helpful in most cases.

19. In very severe cases it may be necessary to ask a young male friend to tie your hand to the bed frame with a silk necktie in order that the habit of masturbating in a semi-sleep condition can be broken. Ask him to stay with you to help in case things get out of hand.

20. Set up a reward system for your successes. It does not have to be a big reward. A dollar in a receptacle each time you overcome might feel good. Revel in something which delights you and will be a continuing reminder of your progress. Indulge yourself!! But don't think about masturbation!

21. Do not let yourself return to any past habit or attitude patterns which were part of your problem. Satan Never Gives Up. Be calmly and confidently on guard. Keep a positive mental attitude. You can win this fight! The joy and strength you will feel when you do will give your whole life a radiant and spiritual glow of satisfaction and fulfillment. Jesus will be so proud of you!!

PRINCIPLE FOR FINDING A GODLY WIFE OR HUSBAND. .....continue from yesterday point.

IOI CHRISTIAN MORNING MEAL

TOPIC: PRINCIPLE FOR FINDING A GODLY WIFE OR HUSBAND.
.....continue from yesterday point.

Make a success of your career. It will cultivate good qualities in you such as forward thinking, planning, diligence, and hard work and it will increase your self-esteem so that you don't feel as devastated by being single. It will also increase your confidence and attractiveness. Godly Christians tend to like people who do their best. Jesus had an obvious soft spot for stewards who did their work diligently and well and makes them the heroes of many of his parables.

Make a list of the qualities you really want in a partner and bring this list to God in prayer. Make it quite specific. Use it as a "filter" to prevent you going out with people that are completely wrong. When you make the list remember the golden rule "do unto others as you would want them to do unto you". Would you want your future partner to be drawing up a list like yours? Would you have any chance of getting selected if they did? Is your list too unreal? Make sure that an "average person" - the sort you are likely to marry, is able to fulfill it.

Take their weaknesses seriously. If a person is a Christian but has a problem with drugs or alcohol or promiscuity then be very careful. If they are constantly in financial trouble or always quitting their jobs you may be marrying misery. Things like eating disorders, very low self-esteem, high levels of hostility, and the need to control people can wreak havoc in a marriage. If they are believers then God is working in their lives and there is hope but some believers are not yet ready for responsibility. Some may be "barely believers" and not really committed to long term change. I am not saying don't marry them, I am saying think very, very long and hard before you do. Give them time to grow and to prove themselves before you tie the knot.

Principles For Finding A Godly Wife Or Husband

IOI CHRISTIAN MORNING MEAL

TOPIC: Principles For Finding
A Godly Wife Or Husband

I see many Christians destroying themselves in the effort to find a husband or a wife. They wear revealing clothes, hang around nightclubs and feel ashamed in church on Sunday. Pain and desperation are driving them to clumsily adopt the ways of the world in finding a life partner. It can only lead to heartache and disappointment. I know that you CAN be happy and single and that it is possible to joyfully WAIT . Marrying a non-Christian is not a godly option.

Work on making yourself the sort of person that a godly Christian would LIKE to marry. Be kind, reliable, courteous and attractive. Have your life disciplined and godly and in reasonably good order. Be full of love.

Have something interesting about you and work on it. You need to stand out from the crowd a little. Get interested in missions, help the poor, do something different that is still you.

Be godly yourself. Have a daily quiet time where you read the Bible and pray and start putting Scripture into practice in your life. Go to church regularly to worship God and switch off your "partner searching periscope" when you go there. In fact switch it off as often as you can. There is something very unattractive about people who are obviously looking for a partner. Godly people want a godly partner.

How to recognize a false teacher / false prophet?"

IOI CHRISTIAN MORNING MEAL

TOPIC: How to recognize a false teacher / false prophet?"

Brethren, Jesus warned us that “false Christs and false prophets” will come and will attempt to deceive even God’s elect (Matthew 24:23-27; see also 2 Peter 3:3 and Jude 17-18).

The best way to guard yourself against falsehood and false teachers is to know the truth. To spot a counterfeit, study the real thing. Any believer who “correctly handles the word of truth” (2 Timothy 2:15) and who makes a careful study of the Bible can identify false doctrine. For example, a believer who has read the activities of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit in Matthew 3:16-17 will immediately question any doctrine that denies the Trinity.

Therefore, step one is to study the Bible and judge all teaching by what the Scripture says.

Jesus said “a tree is recognized by its fruit” (Matthew 12:33).

When looking for “fruit,” here are three specific tests to apply to any teacher to determine the accuracy of his or her teaching:

1) What does this teacher say about Jesus?

In Matthew 16:15-16, Jesus asks, “Who do you say I am?” Peter answers, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God,” and for this answer Peter is called “blessed.” In 2 John 9, we read, “Anyone who runs ahead and does not continue in the teaching of Christ does not have God; whoever continues in the teaching has both the Father and the Son.” In other words, Jesus Christ and His work of redemption is of utmost importance; beware of anyone who denies that Jesus is equal with God, who downplays Jesus’ sacrificial death, or who rejects Jesus’ humanity. First John 2:22 says, “Who is the liar? It is the man who denies that Jesus is the Christ. Such a man is the antichrist—he denies the Father and the Son.”

2) Does this teacher preach the gospel?

The gospel is defined as the good news concerning Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection, according to the Scriptures (1 Corinthians 15:1-4). As nice as they sound, the statements “God loves you,” “God wants us to feed the hungry,” and “God wants you to be wealthy” are not the complete message of the gospel. As Paul warns in Galatians 1:7, “Evidently some people are throwing you into confusion and are trying to pervert the gospel of Christ.” No one, not even a great preacher, has the right to change the message that God gave us. “If anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than what you accepted, let him be eternally condemned!” (Galatians 1:9).

3) Does this teacher exhibit character qualities that glorify the Lord?

Speaking of false teachers, Jude 11 says, “They have taken the way of Cain; they have rushed for profit into Balaam’s error; they have been destroyed in Korah’s rebellion.” In other words, a false teacher can be known by his pride (Cain’s rejection of God’s plan), greed (Balaam’s prophesying for money), and rebellion (Korah’s promotion of himself over Moses).

Jesus said to beware of such people and that we would know them by their fruits (Matthew 7:15-20). This kind of the people are all in our churches and mountain around us with their selfishness, Jesus warn us to be careful

Dealing With False Teachers

IOI CHRISTIAN MORNING MEAL

TOPIC: Dealing With False Teachers

Scripture: Colossians 2:1-10

I. Introduction: Do you know how to identify false teaching? Using the Word of God, can you support what you believe? Are you confident that your children can distinguish between truth and falsehood? It's essential that you know how to defend your faith against the heresies taught by today’s cults and false teachers.

A. Spiritual deception is nothing new.

In Colossians, Paul addressed several heresies, including the claims that Jesus was not God and works were necessary for salvation. The apostle encouraged the Colossian church to remember what they had been taught and to continue following Christ (Col. 2:1-10).

A number of other New Testament passages warn against false teachers: 2 Corinthians 11:1-4; Matthew 24:11; Mark 13:5-6; 2 Peter 3:17-18; and 1 John 4:1-6.
B. Where do false teachers operate?

They often build cults. A leader might assemble a group of people to perform non-biblical rituals or observe strict rules. If he teaches from the Bible at all, he uses it primarily to validate his “special calling” or his claim to be the messiah. Sexual immorality, child abuse, group suicide, and other types of unhealthy relationships and behaviors often characterize cults.
Sometimes false teachers participate in mainstream churches. Such people believe only portions of God’s Word. They question fundamentals of the faith, such as the virgin birth, the second coming of Christ, and the importance of receiving salvation before death. That’s why church leaders searching for a new pastor should verify that he has a vital, growing relationship with the Lord, not just that he is a member of their denomination.
C. What are the consequences of trusting a false teacher?

Danger:
Since their primary purpose is to control and use people, false teachers don’t seek to lead others into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
Division: Such leaders often cause conflict that breaks up families and churches.

Disillusionment:
They make promises on behalf of God, without telling people how to seek Him. Then, when followers gradually give up on personal time with the Lord, their lives become empty. Only Jesus Christ can fill a person.

Drifting:
False teachers often cause believers to neglect close fellowship with God. In the absence of a vital, growing relationship with Jesus, Christians stop bearing spiritual fruit. False teaching is also destructive to those who don’t believe. When a cult leaves them feeling empty and defeated, they will think faith has failed them (1 Tim. 4:1).

D. How do we protect ourselves from false teaching?

Cling to God’s Word as your faithful guide in life (Titus 1:9).

Don't let anything—magazines, television, sports, or even time with your family—come between you and Scripture. If you don’t make time for the Bible, you will gradually lose hope, assurance, and your spiritual foundation.

Study the Scriptures under a trustworthy teacher.

This person should believe the Bible from Genesis to Revelation. His lifestyle should be consistent with his teaching and the Bible.

Refute false doctrine by comparing it to the Word.

Scripture is the reliable standard for truth (2 Tim. 3:16).
Take precautions to protect yourself from hearing false doctrine. 2 John 7-10 instructs us not to greet those who want to deceive us. If you decide to discuss faith with members of a cult, be bold in your proclamation of the truth, and don’t be drawn into fruitless debate.

Conclusion:
Our culture is more and more open to spiritual ideas that do not align with the Word of God, and hostile to ones that do (2 Tim. 4:3-4). That’s why it’s important for Christians to know what they believe, and also why they believe it. Know biblical truth, seek to live by it, and stay in close fellowship with Jesus Christ. With the right preparation, you will be less likely to fall prey to spiritual predators.

What was a false prophet?

IOI CHRISTIAN MORNING MEAL

TOPIC: What was a false prophet?

this morning brethren let look at this in four ways...

1) Deuteronomy 18:20 “But the prophet, which shall presume to speak a word in my name, which I have not commanded him to speak, or that shall speak in the name of other gods, even that prophet shall die.”

2) Moses goes on to say that the prophet that prophecies and the thing he prophecies does not come to pass makes him a false prophet.

3) However, in Deuteronomy 13:3, we read that even if that thing comes to pass, yet the prophet tells them to do wicked things, we still are not to follow after that prophet.

4) So the ultimate test of whether someone is a false prophet is whether he speaks beyond the things that God has written, that is, whether he speaks presumptuously.
