TERRIBLE: Armed Robbers Invade Churches Without Fear

This is not the best of times for churches and pastors in parts of Nigeria, particularly in Anambra State. Call it signs of the end tme and one is not far from the truth. Hitherto sacred places often dreaded even by everyone are now targets of daredevil robbers.

There is a slogan right now in the state which says, “One Sunday, one church robbery”.
In the last two weeks in Anambra State, armed robbers have invaded about three churches at odd hours leaving sorrow and tears in their trail.

The Catholic Archbishop of Onitsha, Most Rev. Valerian Okeke, worried over the unusual development, has initiated a prayer programme in the archdiocese for the repentance of criminals who are harassing and attacking churches in Onitsha and beyond. The Archbishop has enjoined the faithful to say the prayers with dedication and commitment so that robbery attacks in the parishes will end.

First to host the unwanted visitors was St. John of the Cross Catholic Church, Egbo, Uruagu, Nnewi. The robbers had stormed the parish rectory about 1 am on Sunday night and held the priest and other residents hostage for over one hour. At the end of the invasion, they made away with an unspecified amount of cash and a bus belonging to the parish choir.

According to sources, the robbers numbering about 10 gained access to the main building by cutting the burglary proof bars on one of the windows in the parlour. They had earlier tied the hands of the security men before they went to the place where drivers and seminarians were sleeping, meted the same treatment to them and went further to collect the car keys and proceeded to the area where the parish priest and other priests were staying.

When they entered they saw a priest and ordered him to show them the parish priest’s flat and he complied immediately. Finding it difficult to enter through the door, they gained access through the ceiling. The robbers immediately pointed their guns at the parish priest, barking orders at him to bring all the money in the house including the Sunday offering. The priest surrendered everything to them.

Sunday Sun learnt that while the robbers were carrying on with their evil operations, two of the drivers succeeded in untying themselves and escaped. They were said to have informed one of the parishioners around who quickly phoned the police at the Nnewi Central Police Station but the police never responded till the robbers finished and left the scene.

The Parish Priest , Very Rev. Fr. Peter Ezeani, while narrating his ordeal, confirmed that seven of the armed robbers entered his room armed with AK47 and pump action rifles. He said they collected all the valuables in the house including cash.

While the Nnewi incident was still fresh, another robbery incident was reported at Holy Trinity Parish, Ogidi, Idemili North Local Government Area.

The robbers were said to have stormed the church compound at 3:00 am ransacking all the rooms for about one and half hours.

Though some of the priests residing in the parish were away on ministerial engagements when the bandits struck, the robbers reportedly had ample time to cart away laptops, ipads and an undisclosed amount of money.

The same night, the marauders swooped on the clergymen at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Nnokwa in Idemili South Local Government. Their style of operation was almost similar to the siege at Ogidi thereby fueling suspicion that it was the same gang that operated in the two parishes.

‘Return your loot or face the consequences’
Apparently irked by the unusual boldness of the robbers who struck sacred places, one of the resident priests at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Ogidi, Very Rev. Fr. Basil Gbuzue has called on the gang of robbers who stormed the church premises to return the stolen items or be ready to face the wrath of God.

Fr. Gbuzue who is the spiritual director, Mountain of Solution Catholic Adoration Ministry, Nkpor, Anambra State said the robbers were lucky that he was not around the night they broke in

FAITHFUL IN SPITE OF TEMPTATIONS

IOI  CHRISTIAN MORNING MEAL 30/9/2013

TOPIC: FAITHFUL IN SPITE OF TEMPTATIONS

A. The Context – Joseph was a good looking young man, v. 6. Not that I would know, but beauty must bring with it its own set of problems.

As Joseph ministered in Potiphar’s house, he caught the eye of Potiphar’s wife. She began to flirt with him, v. 7. After a short time, she became downright brazen in her approach, asking Joseph to “lie” with her. He refused her advances, but she persisted, v. 10. Then, on a certain day, she was in the house alone and when Joseph came in she grabbed him by his outer garments and said “Lie with me”, v. 11-12. Joseph left his garment in her hand and ran away. In this “trial by fire” remained absolutely faithful to the Lord.

B.  There are several features of this temptation that would have made it very attractive to any young man.

·         It was a temptation to fulfill a natural and legitimate need – The offer from Potiphar’s wife was for sex, pure and simple. God made us sexual creatures and many people believe they have the right to satisfy their sexual desires in any fashion they choose.

God has a different opinion. Any sexual expression that takes place outside the boundaries of the marriage relationship is either fornication or adultery. Either one is a sin against God, your spouse, your future spouse, or yourself, Ill. V. 9; 1 Cor. 6:18-20. Joseph’s response to Potiphar’s wife was a response we should all adopt when it comes to dealing with sexual sin, v. 12; 2 Tim. 2:22.

·         Joseph was a long way from home in a strange land – Some people might have adopted the motto: “When in Rome, do as the Romans”. A lot of people live like that. A salesman will do things on the road that he will not do at home. A young person will do things at a party they will not do at home. Joseph did not care where he was, he was determined to do the right thing.

He refused to violate the trust of his master, v. 9, and of his God, v. 9. His family would have never known. Potiphar might have never known. But, Joseph knew that God in Heaven would know. And, that knowledge was enough to keep him pure. Ill. Pro. 15:3; Heb. 4:13.

·         Mrs. Potiphar was surely a beautiful woman – Egyptian women were renowned in that day for their physical beauty. Surely she would have appealed to the male in Joseph. Nowhere in this text does it say that he was repulsed by her appearance. Nowhere does it suggest that she was an unattractive woman. Had he given into her advances, there can be little doubt that it would have been an enjoyable experience.

However, Joseph was interested in more than simply gratifying his flesh. He was determined to be faithful to God regardless of the personal cost. It was a decision he made long before he arrived in Egypt, and it was a decision he was determined to stand by.

Joseph had some conviction and he had drawn himself some boundaries. As I mentioned the other day, we need to do the same thing. Then, when times of temptation come our way, there is no choice in the matter; we have already decided what we will do!

·         It came on the heels of a big promotion – A lot of people would assume that they had arrived. After all, Joseph had the Midas touch. He had the favor of Potiphar. He was the king of the roost at the big house. He did as he pleased. Some people might have concluded, “I can do no wrong. I might as well enjoy the fruits of my labors.” But, not Joseph!

It would do us well to remember that we are never more vulnerable to temptation than when we have just enjoyed a great victory. When we have been part of a great victory, we seem to feel like we can do anything. In those moments, temptation and failure are more real than ever, 1 Cor. 10:12.

·         It came at the perfect time and opportunity – Potiphar’s wife caught Joseph when there was no physical reason why they should not and could not commit adultery. The only thing that stopped them was Joseph’s integrity. He stood his ground, determined to do what was right regardless of the cost.

PUTTING GOD FIRST

Topic: putting God first

Text: Matthew 16:24-27 KJV
Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. [25] For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it. [26] For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? [27] For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works.

We are putting God first by saying No to all ungodliness
The word denying means refusal of something, Jesus says if you want to follow me you have to say no to something, you have to denying yourself of something or anything that is ungodly

Titus 2:11-12 KJV
For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, [12] Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;
Say no to fornication, adultery, stealing, lieing, backbiting, drunkenness, wayward life or worldly affection, etc

If we want to put God first we must do like the 3 Hebrew sadrack messack and abednigo, who stood their grand in faith and did not bow to idol, and God didn't put them to shame,

There was a story told of a man who was just transfer to another office and was offer a huge amonth of money to corrupt him but he refuse because he his a
Child of God. But thse evil people plan for him the next morning, they plant a woman in his office to lie that the child of God rape her, to cut the story short, the man was put in jail for ten years but this after saving for seven years the truth came out and he was paid all the areas of all the years. The
Surly the man serve seven years yes that is his cross that Jesus was talking about, that we must carry

Kwara CAN Rejects Govt.’S Invitation To Be Part Of Independence Celebration

THE Kwara state chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, has rejected the state government’s request to be part of the ceremonial service for this year Independence celebration.

Besides, the CAN has directed all its members intending to embark on this year pilgrimage to Jerusalem to shun any sponsorship offer from the state government.

The CAN at the end of its emergency meeting on Friday 27 September in Ilorin said its members should instead gather at the sprawling United Missionary Theological Church along Offa Garage Area, Ilorin, by 5pm on Sunday, 29 September for “a special prayer for the nation.”
The CAN had recently alleged a deliberate ploy by the state government to shut out qualified Christian faithful from occupying key political and career positions under the administration of Governor Abdulfatah

The CAN had come up with statistics of incumbent political office holders in the state alleging that the positions given to christians were a far cry from the population of christians in the state.

But the Governor at his monthly programme on air, ‘Governor Explains,’ said appointment into political offices in the state was purely on the basis of Local Government Areas and not religion, “and will never be on religion”.
The state CAN Chairman, Dr. James Folaranmi said: “We received a few days ago a letter from the government seeking our organisation to participate in this year service for the nation’s independence anniversary.

“But we have told the concerned authority that two persons cannot walk or work together except they had first agreed? In view of our position and the Governor’s own, we are not in tandem and we can’t be hypocritical organising any service ordered by the government that is denying our existence in the state.

“Because we love our father land, all christian faithful will gather at the UMTC on Sunday evening to pray for the peace and progress of our country. Besides, no Christian in the state should accept any Jerusalem sponsorship from the government. These are the decisions reached today at the end of our emergency meeting”, Folaranmi said.

An explosion rocked a village in Abuja on Friday night killing two sisters.

The explosion from a domestic gas cylinder in one Miss Rose property, came at exactly 7.37pm, killing Faith Oche, 31, and Mary Oche, 25, said to be co-tenants to Rose. The explosion, according to eye witnesses, sounded like bomb as it rocked the village to its foundation with people scampering tfor safety.

The explosion left a gory impact on the two victims. The head of one was reportedly blown off while the second had her head shattered. An eyewitness, Mr. Joseph Mark, a tenant in the house, said Miss Rose, who was cooking in her apartment, found that a fire had entered the nozzle of the cylinder and threw it outside the compound.

According to him, when people saw the cylinder with burning fire, they ran and prepared water and detergent solution and sands which they were throwing at a distance to put out the fire.

Mark said the two sisters, Mary and Faith, put up bravery attempts and approached the cylinder with the aim of throwing in more sand but the cylinder exploded suddenly into their faces.

Police officers, who visited the scene, said investigation had commenced into the matter while the bodies of the victims had been deposited at the National Hospital, Abuja mortuary

SHOCKING: Woman Holds Down Her 4-Year-Old Son While His Father Rapes Him

A couple have pleaded guilty to charges of multiple counts of rape and sexual assaults of their son and sentenced to 20 years in jail.

According to reports, 25-year-old French mother, Sabrina Bonner, held her 4-year-old son by the arms while he was raped by his stepfather in a prison visiting room. She allegedly blindfolded him and made him kneel on a chair throughout the ordeal.

She and her partner, 31-year-old Lionel Barthelemy were charged in a court in Strasbourg, eastern France.

Some of the assaults, including the rape in the visiting room at the Toul detention centre in eastern France, had been filmed on a mobile phone.

The case had raised questions over why prison staff failed to stop, or even notice, an act of such brutality taking place during what was supposed to be a supervised visit to a prisoner serving a sentence for domestic violence, who had been diagnosed as having schizophrenic tendencies.

Investigators had found that black bin bags were used to cover the glass window of the door of the visiting room.

Bonner has admitted carrying out multiple sexual assaults on her child during 2009 and 2010, filming them on her mobile phone and giving the phone’s memory card to her imprisoned partner.

She gave herself up to police in May 2011, shortly before Barthelemy was due to be released from prison.

Bonner has claimed that she carried out the assaults under the orders and threat of violence from Barthelemy.

WHAT IS OUR HOPE AS A CHRISTIAN?

IOI CHRISTIAN MEAL. Saturday September 28/2013

WE HAVE THE HOPE OF A RESURRECTION

Text: thessalonians 4:13-17

The Thessalonians had heard about the coming of the Lord. But, they thought that believers had to be alive until the coming of the Lord or they would somehow miss the resurrection and the rapture. They thought their departed loved ones, who had died and been buried, were gone forever. Paul writes to them to let them know there is hope for those who have gone on to be with Jesus.

In these verses, Paul speaks about the saints who have gone on before. He lets us know what their situation is right now. In telling us about those who have left earth for Heaven, he gives us all hope.)

A.  The Departed And Their Condition.

“asleep and sleep” Not soul sleep. A euphemism for death. Their bodies are asleep, but their spirits live on! Ill. “sleep” implies rest. That much is true, the redeemed are resting from the burdens and trials of this life, Rev. 14:13; Rev. 21:4.

B.  The Departed And Their Location –

In verse 14 Paul tells us that God will bring the dead in Christ with Him when He comes. If He is going to bring them with Him, then they must be with Him ahead of time. Ill. 2 Cor. 5:8; Phil. 1:20-24; 2 Pet. 1:14. Don’t worry about those who have gone on before! They are with the Lord but they will be back. They are coming with Him!

C.  The Departed And Their Inclusion –

The fear of the Thessalonians. Paul tells them not to worry. When Jesus comes, the dead in Christ will be raised fist. “Will not prevent” in verse 15 means that we will “not precede them”. We are all going in the first resurrection, but they will be raised and translated first! A cemetery would be a great place to be at the resurrection.)

11 Tips To Avoid Heart Break In A Relationship.

Here are great tips you should know to avoid unnecessary heartbreaks.

1. Not all relationships must lead to marriage. Some relationships are for a reason, others are for a season only few are for a life time. If it doesn’t work out don’t kill yourself because it was for a purpose! Discover the purpose and move on.

2. Don’t give a man or a woman the totality of your heart before giving the totality of your heart to God. Love that person but put God first.

3. Don’t get carried away with beauty or money, if that person’s inner person cannot keep you, his money or her beauty cannot either.

4. Love is never enough, understanding, compatibility, wisdom, patience and tolerance are equally important.

5. When the negative signs are more than the positive signs. It is better to withdraw your heart before it gets ‘broken’.

6. Extreme jealousy is the quickest way to break that relationship.

7. Don’t demand trust, earn it or build it or show it.

8. Never you compare him or her to someone else.

9. Your relationship should not only be marriage driven but care, love and concern driven.

10. Don’t marry him or her because you saw him or her in church. Many are in church but not in touch with God.

11. If God give you the woman or man of your dreams you may be dreaming the remaining days of your life. God will only give you the woman or man FOR your dream not OF your dreams. Discover your purpose and you will attract the right person. If your heart is with God, He will keep men or women from tampering with it.

8, 000 women seek husbands in Zamfara

Over  8,000 women on Thursday matched to the Zamfara Hisbah Commission seeking the state government's assistance to enable them get married.

Led by the Chairperson of the Zamfara Widows Association, Hajiya Suwaiba Isa and their patron Alhaji Sa'idu Goshe, the women said they were not living a normal life and needed husbands to become whole.

"Many of us cannot afford two meals in a day because there are no men to support us," they said.

The patron, said the association has over  8,000 women, comprising 5,380 divorcees, 2,200 widows, 1,200 orphans and 80 others, whom he said, were looking for men to marry.

He said the women also needed assistance to purchase household items such as beds, mattresses and other basic necessities needed to move to their husband houses.
Goshe appealed to the commission to assist the association in screening suitors for the women.

He said the screening would determine the suitors health status, source of livelihood and ability to maintain a family.

Responding, the Chairman of the commission, Dr Atiku Zawuyya, commended the association for the initiative, saying it would assist in ridding the society of women of easy virtues.
Zawuyya promised to present the matter to the state government for necessary action, but urged the patron to also set up a similar body for men to make the pairing exercise easier.

New Number Plate and Drivers' Licence: Another Burden On The Nigerian Populace

Right from the educational system to political structure and every aspect of the economy, successive governments have continued to implement needless policies at the expense of the populace whom they claim to serve.

Most of these policies which are initially touted as beneficial usually end up as another waste of public resources and a millstone around the neck of the average Nigerian.

The latest in this series of counterproductive policies is the introduction of new number plates and driver’s license by the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC). While the idea may be commendable in itself, the mode of implementation is totally unacceptable.

As far as the FRSC is concerned, it makes no difference whether you had a number before or not; the cost is the same across board. Why would you charge someone who already has a registered number plate and drivers’ licence as if they had none at all? This is nothing short of oppression and exploitation.

Worse still, implementing this policy at this time is no guarantee that we will not repeat the process in the near future as time has proven that we usually implement policies before we have successfully developed the appropriate structures to ensure sustainability.

For Nigerians to agree with the FRSC’s purported reasons for this new policy, the financial implications must be properly adjusted such that it can be easily accommodated by the average motorist whose livelihood is just barely above the poverty line.

Any policy that would require the average Nigerian to cough out twenty-five thousand to forty thousand naira in these challenging times is not humane at all. Human right organisations, political unions, opinion leaders, religious bodies and loyal citizens of Nigeria see the policy as draconian, oppressive and fraudulent. It reeks of extortion. While it may be necessary for new cars and new drivers, it’s totally unwarranted and unprofitable for old car owners.

To day God will fight for you without you noticing in Jesus name

Text: Judges 7:19-22 KJV
So Gideon, and the hundred men that were with him, came unto the outside of the camp in the beginning of the middle watch; and they had but newly set the watch: and they blew the trumpets, and brake the pitchers that were in their hands. [20] And the three companies blew the trumpets, and brake the pitchers, and held the lamps in their left hands, and the trumpets in their right hands to blow withal : and they cried, The sword of the Lord , and of Gideon. [21] And they stood every man in his place round about the camp: and all the host ran, and cried, and fled. [22] And the three hundred blew the trumpets, and the Lord set every man's sword against his fellow, even throughout all the host: and the host fled to Beth-shittah in Zererath, and to the border of Abel-meholah, unto Tabbath.

1. Unlimited and undiluted Praises to God
2. Act of forgiveness and holiness

7. Punctuality to the service of God with a right heart
8. Serving God without complaining
9. Act of Faith of obedient to Gods word
10. Keeping away from sin

Boko Haram Militants Open Fire In Church Killing Pastor, Two Kids

Suspected Boko Haram Islamists on Thursday opened fire in a church in Nigeria’s restive northeast, killing the pastor and his two children before setting fire to the building and fleeing, the military said.
Boko Haram, which has said it is fighting to create an Islamic state in mainly Muslim northern Nigeria, has repeatedly attacked churches in its four-year insurgency.
“Unknown gunmen suspected to be Boko Haram terrorists attacked” the church in Yobe state early on Thursday, area military spokesman Eli Lazarus said in a statement.
“During the attack, a pastor and his two children were killed,” he said.
The church “and two other houses in the community were burnt by the gunmen before fleeing the scene of the incident,” the statement further said.
The killings occurred in the town of Dorawa, some 30 kilometres (18 miles) from the site of a brutal school attack in July that saw dozens of students slaughtered.
Yobe was one of three northeastern states placed under a state of emergency in mid-May as the military launched a major offensive aimed at crushing Boko Haram.
Yobe has seen less violence than neighbouring Borno state, Boko Haram’s base, but the insurgents have carried out major attacks there.
Attacks on churches, including suicide bombings, were once a near weekly occurence but have declined in recent months.
Since the emergency measures were imposed Boko Haram has largely targeted civilians as well as vigilante groups which have formed to help the military.
The latest violence came after the emergence of a new video, in which a man who resembles Boko Haram’s leader mocked reports of his possible death.
Abubakar Shekau, declared a global terrorist by the United States, taunted the regional military spokesman who said he “may have been” fatally wounded in a clash on June 30.
While Shekau’s whereabouts and condition are unknown, the violence has continued, casting doubt on the success of the four-month-old military offensive.
The Boko Haram conflict was earlier this year estimated to have killed more than 3,600 people, including deaths caused by the security forces. The current toll is likely much higher. [AFP]

I. Introduction: Has your excitement about the Lord grown with time? Or has your enthusiasm faded over the years? Maturing in Christ should cause the flame of your faith to grow stronger, not weaker.

A. Caution: The flame of your devotion to Christ can die out.

Even Timothy became discouraged. When the young pastor faced difficult circumstances, Paul encouraged him to fan the flame of his devotion for God (2 Tim. 1:1-11).
Cooling off spiritually happens two ways. A Christian's faith can be doused suddenly by devastating circumstances, or it can dwindle gradually through a loss of interest in spiritual things.
B. What is evidence of a cooling flame?

You neglect the Word of God. What wood is to a fire, the Word of God is to your Christian life. As a follower of Christ, you can't live effectively without it.
Your prayer life changes. You begin to feel that God isn't listening.
Your church attendance becomes sporadic. You start making excuses not to go.
You give less consistently. You begin to feel that you can't afford to sacrifice much to God.
You become defensive about your lifestyle. You rationalize making compromises.
You begin to lose your joy. Serving the Lord becomes a duty instead of a passion. Worry and fear replace your joy.
You begin to doubt God.
You stop paying attention to the Holy Spirit's promptings.
C. How do you recover your fire?

Recognize your condition. Ask yourself, Has my fire gone out?
Recall a season of life when you were passionate about God. What was it like? How did you spend your time?
Repent. Losing devotion to Jesus is usually a direct result of sin.
Refocus your attention on the Lord.
Read the Word of God. Start with a short book of the New Testament, and ask the Lord to speak through it as you read.
Seek God daily in prayer. Go beyond praying for what you need or want. Seek an intimate relationship with Him.
Get involved in someone else's life. Your problems will consume you if you let them. Take the focus off yourself, and meet another person's needs.
Rely on the Holy Spirit to enable you.
III. Closing: Has your fire for God dwindled to cold ashes? If it has, begin to stir up the embers of your faith. Allow the Lord to make your life a bright flame for His glory.

Mountain Of Fire Pastor Bans Female Members From Wearing Trousers To Church

Female members of Mountain of Fire Ministries (MFM) have been banned from wearing trousers. In different televised live broadcasts, General Overseer of MFM, Pastor Daniel Olukoya warned “females wearing trousers and not covering their heads to this church is not allowed. If you cannot abide by this rule please locate to another parish where such can be condoned”...

Olukoya warned that the church will no longer tolerate any lady that does not cover her hair or who wears trousers into any of the branches of the church henceforth.

Dr. Olukoya expressed disgust over the increase of ladies wearing trousers to church and warned that the church will no longer allow any lady wearing trousers to join the congregation and those who refuse to cover their heads, adding that they have the choice of obeying the order or moving to other churches where they can do so.

The MFM head also expressed outright dismay at the rate at which young ladies and even the married ones are disrespecting church’s rule concerning the mode of dressing, hence the need to correct the abnormality.

The respected man of God has also directed all regional overseers and assembly pastors to enforce the rules.

Robber steals car, hides stolen car in a church

The police in Oyo State have recovered a stolen Toyota Camry car in a church in Gbongan, Osun State.

The police said it was hidden by a suspected robber, Yinka Oyeniran.

It was alleged that Oyeniran was a member of a car-snatching syndicate.

He allegedly led three others on September 10, 2013 to a Christian centre around the Kute Wofun area of Ibadan, where the car with plate number Lagos, LSR 292 AT was snatched. They also took the victim’s phone, jewellery and N120,000.

The car, however, had a tracking device, through which the police monitored the car after the victim reported the incident.

The car was later demobilised but Oyeniran was said to have pushed it to a church in Akinlalu junction, Gbongan. He was said to have told the pastor of the church that he brought the vehicle for blessing.

It was learnt that Osun and Oyo states police command laid an ambush for Oyeniran. When he returned to take his loot, he was arrested.

Oyo State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Olabisi Ilobanafo, said an unregistered Honda motorcycle, a Nissan Sunny car with plate number Osun, AP 406 SGB, and a rectum cable wire were also recovered from the suspect.

OUR BLESSED HOPE

IOI CHRISTIAN MEAL. Thursday 26th/2013

TOPIC: OUR BLESSED HOPE

Our world is not a place that lends itself to hope. In fact, when you consider the death, diseases, natural disasters, evil, and all the other negative things that fill our world, there is just not a lot of room for hope.

Hope is a powerful thing.

G. K. Chesterton said, “There is no medicine like hope, no incentive so great, and no tonic so powerful as expectation of something better tomorrow.”

·       Emily Dickinson, in one of her poems said, “Hope is a thing with feathers,/That perches in the soul.”

·       O. S. Marden said, “There is no medicine like hope .
·       Pliny the Elder, an ancient Roman philosopher wrote, “Hope is the dream of a waking man.”

·       Martin Luther said, “Everything that is done in the world is done by hope.”

Here is how the dictionary defines hope: “to have a wish to get or do something or for something to happen or be true, especially something that seems possible or likely.”

Hope, from the world’s viewpoint is just what that definition describes. The world sees hope as a wish or a desire. Hope, as the world sees it, is a longing for something that may or may not take place.

The Bible teaches us that biblical is hope something entirely different than the wishful thinking of the world. Listen to the words of Psalm 31:24, “Be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart, all ye that hope in the LORD.” And again from Psalm 71:5, “For thou art my hope, O Lord GOD: thou art my trust from my youth.”Hear also Paul, “And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity,” 1 Cor. 13:13.

The world says that hope is merely a fond wish or desire. The words used for hope in the Bible, on the other hand, tell an entirely different story. They teach us that biblical hope is “A deep settled confidence that God will keep His promises!” Biblical hope is a “joyful, confident expectation”.

In the face of the hopelessness that grips our world, there is one group of people that possesses genuine hope. The believer has hope!

I do not know what tomorrow will bring my way. It may bring death, disease and disaster. It may bring sorrow, pain and hardship. It may bring blessing, joy and happiness. I may not know what tomorrow will bring, but I do know for sure that tomorrow might bring Jesus. Titus 2:13, “Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ.”

The hope of the believer is wrapped up in the second coming of Jesus Christ. He is coming and His return brings us hope for all our tomorrows.

PRAYER

MAY YOUR HOPE NEVER BE VOID, MAY YOUR HOPE TURN TO REALITY, MAY GOD BLESS KEEP YOU FOCUS TILL YOU POSSESS  YOUR PROMISE LAND AND ACHIEVE YOUR GOAL IN LIFE IN JESUS NAME

AMEN.

Nigeria: Randy Pastor Impregnates Three Choir Members

Nigeria: Randy Pastor Impregnates Three Choir Members

By Kola Niyi-Eke, Source: Leadership

A self-acclaimed man of God who runs a church in Ugbolu community, near Asaba, Delta State, has allegedly put three female members of his choir in the family way.

The man, identified as Moses (surname withheld), was also accused of using fetish practices to conduct prayer sessions during worship periods in the community where he is said to also perform miracles.

Reports said Moses, who is now helping the police in its investigations, was alleged to have hood-winked the victims into having closed doors prayer sessions where he was said to have performed various acts on them.

The police spokesperson in the state, ASP Lucky Uyabeme, said that the suspect, upon interrogation, confessed to have lured his victims with "charms," claiming that this paved the way for him to have sexual intercourse with them.

Sources said since revelations relating to the Moses' bizarre acts two weeks ago, there have been palpable tension in the community where worshippers in his church have been seen standing and whispering.

LEADERSHIP FRIDAY understands that Moses moved into the community from Onitsha where he was allegedly manhandled by a mob after raping a 16-year-old bread hawker.

Moses was arrested after relations of his victims were said to have reported the matter to the Police, following the confessions of the young girls that he had made love to them.

Many Pastors Are Now Status-Driven, No More Kingdom-Driven

It almost seem to me like God has since left the 'church', and He is just watching us do our thing. Churches are now handled and managed like circular industries. The place of the Holy Spirit has since been abandoned.

It is now competition galore. Every person is solely interested in building an empire for himself. Many of our pastors desperately want their members to honour them more than they honour Christ. Many church folks don't even know Jesus Christ. 'Pastor' has become 'Jesus'.
It bleeds my heart this is what the church has become... It pains me even more that Heaven is sincerely no more the focus... Many who even preach about Heaven act like they don't believe it even exists.
Many worship 'Pastors', they rarely care about Jesus. 'Pastors' are now status-driven, no more Kingdom-driven!

Focus has changed in ministry. It is no more about His Kingdom. It now about whose church is the biggest. Who can 'preach' better... Who can 'prophesy' better... Who has more 'miracles' in his ministry... Who has the latest cars and longest escort... Who has bigger investments... Whose name is more in the media...

Supposed Ministers of the Gospel are now striving to be celebrities... Ministers even wear "blings"...

Is this the same Christianity we were told about as teenagers, or is there a new 'Jesus' we should start serving? Is this the same Christianity the Apostles practised that made people see them and called them "Christians" in Antioch?

It seems so much like God has since left the 'church', and will only return to pick the very few who have chosen to face the Gospel as it is.

Today, church folks no longer have personal walk with Jesus Christ, they need 'Pastors' who will pray on their behalf and do 'magic' for them... Church folks and other desperate people are pushing once-upon-a-time genuine pastors to become false prophets and fake ministers of the gospel of Christ... We now have all kind of 'magic centers', and it takes the special grace of God to know who is really fake and who is genuine...

Let's remember this: The return of the Lord Jesus is sure. He is coming for the righteous, not the religious. He is coming for those that know Him, not just those that are close to 'powerful pastors'... He is coming for those who are upright, not just workers in church...

Friends, let's prepare for His return and His reward, everyday of our life!

IOI MORNING MEAL. WEDNESDAY, 25/2013. DIVINE VAFOUR

IOI CHRISTIAN MEAL.                                                                          TOPIC: DIVINE FAVOUR

TEXT: I will give them praise and honor in every land where they were put to shame. (Zephaniah 3:19)

Dearly beloved, the favour of God brings blessings into our lives.

Nehemiah prayed, “Remember me with favor, O my God, for all I have done for these people” (Nehemiah 5:19).

When Nehemiah wanted to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem, evil people rose up against him. They knew that once the walls are rebuilt, the city will be strengthened and they would never be able to conquer it.

So his enemies plotted against him and they gathered together in order to fight with him. They even wrote to the king to prevent Nehemiah from rebuilding the walls. The king also passed an order accordingly.

Nehemiah prayed, “Remember me with favor, O my God, for all I have done for these people” (Nehemiah 5:19).

It was then Nehemiah cried out to God, “Remember me with favour, Oh my God, for all I have done for these people.” Then the Lord remembered him and revealed His mighty power. He gave him His wisdom and saved him from his enemies. He graciously enabled him to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem. Even today people in Jerusalem call it as “The wall built by Nehemiah.”

And today the Lord tells you, “My dear son / daughter, I have remembered you with favour and I will bless you. No one will be able to come against you.”

Dearly beloved, when you pray like Nehemiah, He will surely remember you. He will help you to establish His kingdom on this earth. It will be so wonderful in the eyes of the people. Instead of destroying those who rise up against you, God will bless you in an abundant measure before their very eyes.

Even amidst your sorrow plead with God saying, “Lord, You are the one who created me. Please consider my integrity and remember me with favour.” Then He will certainly have compassion on you and open up an avenue for you.

The Lord says, “I will give them praise and honor in every land where they were put to shame.” (Zephaniah 3:19). You may have gone through humiliation. But the Lord promises to restore all the blessings you have lost. He will bestow His favour upon you. He will exalt you before all eyes.

Prayer:

Lord Jesus,

I call upon You for help. Remember me in your mercy and bestow your favour upon me. Surround me with your protection. May your divine favour bring abundant blessings into my life. Exalt me before all eyes. Reveal your mighty power through my life.

In Jesus name I pray.

Amen.

Pastor Disguised As Destitute to His Church and Members Refused To Help Him

When I was growing up in the 80s in Nigeria, the church is where you go when you need help, love and any and every kind of assistance. Guess what? You'll get the attention of the big people (Pastors and assistance) as that is their purpose - to help the vulnerable and needy,

But what do we get these days? Pastors competing with themselves over who has the best suits, the best cars and, in recent times, who enjoy more beautiful girls in the "Pastoral Cure Unit". Now the mess has spread to church members, many are living the artificial life rather than be of help to their neighbour.

Below is what happened to this pastor who disguised as a destitute to his church:
Pastor Jeremiah Steepek transformed himself into a homeless person and went to the 10,000 member church that he was to be introduced as the head pastor at that morning.
He walked around his soon to be church for 30 minutes while it was filling with people for service, only 3 people out of the about 10,000 people said hello to him.
He asked people for change to buy food – no one in the church gave him change.
He went into the sanctuary to sit down in the front of the church and was asked by the ushers if he would please sit in the back.
He greeted people only to be greeted back with stares and dirty looks, with people looking down on him and judging him.
As he sat in the back of the church, he listened to the church announcements and such.
When all that was done, the elders went up and were excited to introduce the new pastor of the church to the congregation.
“We would like to introduce to you Pastor Jeremiah Steepek.” The congregation looked around clapping with joy and anticipation.
The homeless man sitting in the back stood up and started walking down the aisle. The clapping stopped with all eyes on him.
He walked up the altar and took the microphone from the elders (who were in on this) and paused for a moment then he recited: “Then the King will say to those on his right,
‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world.
For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’
“Then the righteous will answer him: ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’
‘The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’
After he recited this, he looked towards the congregation and told them all what he had experienced that morning. Many began to cry and many heads were bowed in shame.
He then said, “Today I see a gathering of people, not a church of Jesus Christ. The world has enough people, but not enough disciples. When will YOU decide to become disciples?”
Pastor Jeremiah Steepek then dismissed service until next week.
Following in the footsteps of Jesus Christ should be more than just talk. It ought to be a lifestyle that others around you can love about you and share in.

PRINCIPLE FOR CHOSEN LIFE PARTNER 1

Topic: Principles for finding a Christian life partner. (Pt1)

Marriage is one of the most important choices you will ever have to make in your life.
The choice you make will determine if you will have a happy marriage or an unhappy marriage.
It will undoubtedly affect the lives, hopes, dreams and careers of your children if you were to have any.

1. Take your time with God, don’t make your choice in a hurry.

To rush into a marriage can be disastrous. The most important decision of your life, of course, is your decision to follow the Lord. This decision is not a one-time declaration, but a daily determination to follow Jesus above all.

The best way for a Christian to find a life partner according to God`s will and choice is to pray. Begin in prayer. It is important to pray to God and ask Him to choose the best person for you, the one most suited to your needs and to God`s plan. Then it is important to obey God`s will. This means you will choose to be where God wants you to be. This usually means, in most cases, that you`ll choose to be part of a Bible-teaching church or assembly where you will grow in God`s Word and fellowship with godly people.
You are more likely to find your life`s partner in such a place.

2. Have a daily quiet time with God.

You need a moment at the day, where you read the Bible and pray and start putting Scripture into practice in your life.
Go to church regularly to worship God and switch off your “partner searching periscope” when you go there. In fact switch it off as often as you can. There is something very unattractive about people who are obviously looking for a partner. Godly people want a godly partner.

1 trust in GOD for a life partner.
2 Put JESUS first in all things.
3 Serve in your local church.
4 Establish healthy relationships.
5 Love the word of GOD

I Pray God will guide you to choose right  ijn

PRINCIPLE FOR CHOSEN LIFE PARTNER 2

Topic: Principles for finding a Christian life partner (Pt2)

Continue from last time

3. Being single can be an important time to prepare you for marriage

It can also be a time to experience a closer communion with God. As you seek God to cleanse you of the world and help you become the kind of wife or husband that would bless someone, you will soon find that you are not lonely
First, the Lord would begin using you to bless others; then you will find you are content in Him. Eventually, in God’s plan and timing, He will bless you with a wonderful mate so that both lives can be a witness for Him
Marriage is the second major choice you make in our lives, and you should never enter into it without much prayer. The worse loneliness one can experience is not single but marries someone who does not feel the same way you feel about the Lord. Singles need to stop believing the “I am missing something” lie and accept the call to obey and serve God with their whole heart, mind, and strength. Marriage may or may not be a part of God’s plan for you so it is time to live the life you have now and trust God for the rest

4. Be careful

Not everyone, where you fall in love is suitable as life partner. This is important to know. If a person is a Christian but has still a problem with drugs or alcohol or promiscuity then be very careful. If they are constantly in financial trouble or always quitting their jobs be careful. Things like eating disorders, very low self-esteem and the need to control people can be a great problem in a marriage
If they are believers then God is working in their lives and there is hope but some believers  are not yet ready for responsibility. Some may be barely believer and not really committed to long term change. I am not saying don’t marry them, think very hard before you do. and to prove themselves before you tie the knot

I Pray, God will order your steep to the Right partner

PRINCIPLE FOR CHOSEN LIFE PARTNER

Topic: Principles for finding a Christian life partner (Pt3)

5. Understand, you need someone who can pray with you.

Couples that pray together stay together and that’s a proven fact. The Christian marriages that fail have one partner that avoids having daily devotionals together. Prayer really builds deep intimacy into a marriage.

Marriage is not just marrying any woman or man, but the right kind of woman or man.
This is a wife or husband that will be a blessing for you from the Lord.

6. No fellowship or compromise with darkness.

For those who have discovered God’s light, there can be no fellowship or compromise with darkness.
We cannot have a part in the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons at the same time. You cannot follow Christ and the crowd (1 Corinthians 10:20-21). When you put your trust in God  He promised to lead us if we follow Him.

Psalm 37:47.  Have faith in the Lord, and do good; be at rest in the land, and go after righteousness. So will your delight be in the Lord, and he will give you your heart’s desires. Put your life in the hands of the Lord; have faith in him and he will do it.

7. Want to know where to find the right kind of partner?

Many Christians destroying themselves in effort to find a Partner.
They wear revealing clothes, hang around nightclubs and feel ashamed in church on Sunday. Pain and desperation are driving them to clumsily adopt the ways of the world in finding a  life partner.
It can only lead to heartache and disappointment.

If you want to find a Christian partner, go to church, local singles events where Christians meet regularly. Don’t expect to meet people if you are in the house and your door is shut.

Pro 18:22 says, He that finds a wife, findeth a good thing and obtains favor from the Lord (BE WISE)

I Pray for you, every wrong choice you have made is corrected, and a partner that will destroy your future will not come your way ijn

LET BROTHERLY LOVE CONTINUE

Topic: Brotherly Love

Text: 1John 4:7 Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.

Brotherly Love is an Action of Sacrifice
1 John 3:16-24

This is what we need as nation, as christian to muslim as friend to strangers as brother to sisters, as leaders to followers, because God shows us love

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Much is said today in the name of promoting love.   "Religious" America and the world speaks of the need of love among humans. Songs chant the lyrics "lets all just love one another."

The definition of this love is generally caring for the  other person, respecting their rights and living in peace with each other.

The message is as old as man and mankind is no closer than he ever was at showing love to others. Nation continues to rises against nation, neighbor against neighbor. The picture is bleak in spite of all talk about how we all ought to love one another.

The world does not know true love because is does not know the Source of love. The Bible says that God is love and that we cannot know true love apart from knowing Him.

So the concept of love did not come from man did it?  It came from God!

I. The ultimate act of love was of a loving God who humbled himself and took the form of a man, come to earth to suffer and die and thereby take the sin debt of the world on Himself, and give His life for you and I. He loved us that much; to do for us what we could not do for ourselves.

A. 1John 3:16 This is how we know what love is: can be correctly translated this following way.

I Pray may the perfect love of God bind us together and heal our nation, may love rules us and guide our leaders, may God deliver us from the spirit of lust  in Jesus Name

Brotherly Love

Topic: Brotherly Love

Text: 1John 3:16 Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.

This is how we know what love is: can be correctly translated this way.

1. God gives us the definition of what love is.  Unselfishly sacrifices for the other person.

2. The root of love is unselfishness!   That is foundation. A foundation given of God not of man.

Christ, our God set the example, therefore we who claim to be of God, should show forth the character of God, that is of unselfishness to others.

Love is Meeting the Needs of Others. 1 John 3:17

If God has given you the ability to meet the needs of someone else, and you refuse to help that person John asked the question, "How can the love of God dwell in the person?"

1. V18 John says let us love in action (deed) and in truth.

2. The point John is stressing is that if we have the love of God in us, then it WILL be manifested or seen in our actions.

3. You cannot serve God without serving others. You can read you Bible every day, pray without ceasing, live a holy life, praise God with your lips all day long and it will totally worthless if you do not serve others. God is not honored in vain sacrifice and ritual worship. He is honored when His child loves Him enough to love others and meet their needs. Many complain they cannot witness claiming they do not know how. The problem is often they have not earned the right to witness to someone because they refuse to truly love them and seek to help them. People know true love when they see it and they also know when someone is going through the motions with truly caring for their soul.

I Pray that God will remove every hatred  in our life  in Our country  in Our family that is causing fighting and killing of innocent citizen  in Jesus Name and give us his perfect love of others ijn

ALL I HAVE IS THE LORD

Topic: all I have is the Lord

Text: Ps 24

If what I have is the Lord's then if He says give it to someone else, then I ungrugingly am to happily give it. That means our very lives, our time, with nothing withheld.

The song, "Channels of Blessings" addresses this principle that see need to see ourselves as a channel, a means that God can use to help other people and continue the work of the Lord.

Let me share a story...
In a deacons meeting, the pastor presented a need the church had. It was going to cost some money. Pastor was immediately opposed. The pastor explained it was really not a large amount and that God would provide through his people who had faith and trusted Him. Head deacon blurted out, "Well, I just don't have that kind of faith". The deacon never prayed about the matter, did not seek the Lord's will personally and just wholly in the flesh said NO to the pastor who had prayed and sought God's will and was being lead of the Lord!

What was the effect of this?

1St. NO faith which violated
Hebrews 11:6.

2nd. He closed door in the Lord's face.

3rd. Shut the door to receiving any possible blessing of the Lord in their lives.

4th. Refused to let God use them, thus the will of God was not done.

5th. Set a terrible example before the others in the church, especially the young people.

6th. They personally willful, disobeyed the Lord and placed themselves out of his fellowship.

7th. They place God in the position as to having to chasten them, and had to endure the hardships of sickness, financial loss and etc.

8th. They refused to follow God's preacher He has sent to lead them.

There might have been a time  in which you too have done the same thing, you need to let the truth set you free, you have nothing. God owns your life and he can take it anytime anyhow, learn.

I Pray for you Every way you have disappoint God that make you surfer God will forgive you and restore you ijn

Love

Topic: WHAT IS LOVE?

Text: Romans 5:5 And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.

Biblical love is based in faith. In fact biblical love is the result that true faith produces. We cannot please God a part from faith. True faith molds the believer into the vessel that God can use, a vessel dedicated to serving the Lord.

James 2:20 says, "But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?"
Most often the reason people cannot love others is because they do not love God. Deuteronomy 6:5, "And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might."

Jesus in Matthew 22:39, added to the command of Deuteronomy 6:5 and said, "Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself."

Love is not an option for a Christian because the Lord Jesus makes it a command.

This is not a love based on feelings or emotion. It does not require much to love those that love us. But biblical love is love that is given because one wills to give it. The Lord said in Romans 5:8 that He loved us when we were yet in our sins. That demonstrates biblical love. It is a willed love.

I Pray May God put his true love  in us all and destroy every spirit of hatred, lustfulness, greedy, enmity  in our country, land, tribe, family, church, friends.  in Jesus Name

IOI CHRISTIAN MORNING MEAL Topic: STANDING BY YOUR PURPOSE

Text: Daniel 1:8 But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king's meat, nor with the wine which he drank: therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.
VERSE 15 And at the end of ten days their countenances appeared fairer and fatter in flesh than all the children which did eat the portion of the king's meat.

in other to life a fulfill life we must have a purpose, and having a purpose is not as good as been able to stand by our purpose. No wonder

the book of Mathew 15:8 says; This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me. A lots of us say sorry everyday and asking for forgiveness every hour for our wrong doing which as become our behavior as we go back into the same sin, brethren we can't take our grace in God for granted and continue sinning, we must grow in the lord daily not sinning daily thinking that God is merciful A christian without purpose is like a car without steering, if you want to live a stable christian life then you must have a purpose and stand by it strongly,

Daniel refuse to defile himself with kings meat, Some people has defile their holy life because of food, work, women, men, post, cloth, shoes, jewelry, friends etc Its high time you grow in the lord and learn how to say NO to what we cause your spiritual downfall, Daniel 3:17 If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king. 18 But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods You too stand on your grand in faith,

don't lose your virginity because of worldly gain, don't turn wayward because of unbelievers pressure, Jesus has the final Say, Amen

I Pray, may God help you And Pray for you as he did for Peter Ijn

IOI CHRISTIAN MORNING MEAL

Topic: Does God Really love Me?

Text: John 11:3 Therefore his sisters sent unto him, saying, Lord, behold, he whom thou lovest is sick.

This is the story of lazarus a man called friend of Jesus
There is one thing to be friend and its another thing to be lovers,
This story shows that Jesus is both the same for us, he is our friend and our lover in fact he is our all  in all, and we knew that.

But at times we find our self  in a position whereby we ask our self whether God love us at all,
May be at the point of death,  in agony of pains, we often ask "Does God really cares" yes he cares and he love us all

in whatever situation you find your self remember he loves you and he care about you

See the following Bible verses:

1john 4:19 We love him, because he first loved us.

Romans 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

John 14:18 I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.

John 14:27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

Heb 13:5 for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.

Brethren, whatever hard time and tough time you are passing through, believe God is there for you, just like the story of Lazarus it might be "for the glory of God" so please endure it

Is it about husband, wife, promotion, job, healing, money, food, friends, family, education, admission, problem etc, all shall be well
Romans 8:31 What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?

Romans 8:37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
HALLELUYAH!!!

I Pray for you, may God meet you at the point of your need and do what will make you believe He loves you  in Jesus Name
