IT IS WELL WITH MY SOUL

IOI CHRISTIAN MORNING MEAL

TOPIC: IT IS WELL WITH MY SOUL

TEXT: PSALM 46:1-11
God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

[2] Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;

[3] Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Selah.

[4] There is a river, the streams whereof shall make glad the city of God, the holy place of the tabernacles of the most High.

[5] God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved: God shall help her, and that right early.

[6] The heathen raged, the kingdoms were moved: he uttered his voice, the earth melted.

[7] The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.

[8] Come, behold the works of the Lord, what desolations he hath made in the earth.

[9] He maketh wars to cease unto the end of the earth; he breaketh the bow, and cutteth the spear in sunder; he burneth the chariot in the fire.

[10] Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.

[11] The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.

We all have days when we like to run away from it all.
Sometimes our hurt is so bad our spirit throbs inside us.
Our dreams fall apart...our hopes fade.
Our lives become wearisome drudgery.
A marriage goes bad...
Health problems develop...
Financial problems come up...
A loved one dies...
And we are tempted to give up....

Though problems will still be a given,
though difficulties will still touch us,
though hardships will be a part of our lives,
there is always a reason to keep going.
We can press on!
We can hang in there!
We can go on...when we want to give up

POINT 1
THERE IS A DIVINE PRESENCE:
Verse 1:
1 ....God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
Notice the descriptive words in this verses:
Refuge: it means "a shelter or hiding place."
 Strength:... "our security, boldness, might."
Present: He is always with us.
Help: this word means "aid or assist."
He doesn't leave us to our own struggles alone.
Trouble: it means "tight spots...misery, distress, agony, suffering, aggravation, ."
In: this preposition means "not before or after
but during, in the midst of".
 In all these problems...
God is our refuge, strength, and a present help.
God is nearer to you than your spouse
and closer to you than your best friend...
The Bible says in Psalm 139:
"Where can I go from Thy Spirit? Or where can I flee from Thy presence? If I ascend to heaven, Thou art there; If I make my bed in Sheol, behold, Thou art there. If I take the wings of the dawn, If I dwell in the remotest part of the sea, Even there Thy hand will lead me, And Thy right hand will lay hold of me.".
 Jesus said:
"I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Matthew 28:20.

LET US PRAY
THIS YEAR 2014. IT SHALL BE WELL WITH YOU IN JESUS NAME

GOOD MORNING FRIENDS
